Eligibility: Adults and children who are victims
of domestic and sexual violence.

Service Description: Receives and
responds to complaints of child abuse, neglect, sexual abuse,
exploitation, maltreatment, or improper custody of a child by a parent,
guardian, or any other person responsible for the child’s health and
welfare. CPS assesses, investigates, makes referrals to community
resources, and/or involves the court when necessary to protect children.
Eligibility: Children under age 18.
Hours/Availability:
Call DHS during business hours 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. After hours,
contact 800.322.4822 for the on-call worker.
Application: Accepts verbal or written reports of
suspected abuse/neglect.

Service Description: Provides crisis
intervention and a “listening ear” for the community. Also provides
pre-admission screening for inpatient psychiatric services.
Eligibility: Children, adolescents, and adults of
all ages.
Hours/Availability: Emergency Service workers are
available by phone or in person 24 hours, 7 days. After hours and
weekends service is provided in an office near the Emergency Department
at Bay Regional Medical Center.
Application: No appointment is required for an
emergency assessment.

Service Description: Provides crisis and
unplanned pregnancy services including free pregnancy testing and
counseling. Assists women explore their options regarding parenting,
adoption, and abortion. Also provides information about birth control
and sexually transmitted diseases.
Eligibility: Women who suspect pregnancy and women
with children from birth to 24 months.
Hours/Availability: 3pm-7pm, Tuesday &
11am-3pm, Thursday.

counseling to assess needs of birth parents and assists them in

adoption.

Service Description: Provides immediate
short-term crisis intervention and referrals for individuals
experiencing a crisis. In addition to defusing crisis situations, an
assessment of needs and referrals to appropriate agency in cases of
suicidal pattern, drugs/alcohol abuse, pregnancy, abuse and neglect,
mental illness, psychological and sexual problems is provided.
Eligibility: Youth ages 6 – 17 and their families
in Bay, Arenac, and Gladwin.
Hours/Availability: 24 hours, 7 days.

hours only.
