Disability Services

This online version of the Disability Services: Faculty & Staff Guide is designed to be a “work in progress” and has been developed with the help and insight of printed materials, online resources, students, faculty, and good old experience.

It is intended to give the reader a variety of tips that might be helpful in successfully accommodating students who have academic or environmental barriers due to a documented disability. The goal is simple: Provide students with disabilities the same type and level of access to instruction, academic activities, social opportunities, and facilities as their non-disabled peers.

Our basic assumption is that an individual who takes the time to read this guide will have the best interest of the Delta student in mind. This thought is based on positive feedback and intentions shared by staff and faculty members.  Students appreciate the efforts of concerned faculty and staff and the very positive messages that are sent to them through a willingness to be flexible, creative, and understanding of diverse situations and challenges.

Personally, we are excited about being part of this process and look forward to working with faculty and staff in any way we can. Please feel free to contact us to clarify or expand on any of the following guidelines. We are always interested in other perspectives in discovering innovative ways to solve access challenges.
