Come to Delta College for five weeks of Summer Camp education and fun! Our camps are designed to inspire creativity and an enthusiasm for learning. They are focused on science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), the arts and so much more! Delta College offers:

Soccer Robot Adventure Stories

Are you interested in building with LEGO® blocks, computers, engineering, math and soccer? Use LEGO® technology to build LEGO® WeDo™ soccer themed models including Goal Kicker, Goal Keeper and Cheerful Fans! You’ll also get to write a story casting your family pet or favorite animal as the main character and act out a skit for the group, all while using LEGO® Education WeDo™ materials. LEGO® WeDo™ Junior Robotics Camps are a great introduction to engineering, basic computer programming and robotics. No previous robotic or programming experience is required.

Help humans settle City X, the first city on a fictitious new planet. You’ll be paired with the citizens of City X as they are faced with various challenges relating to social issues such as environment, education, health and safety. It’s up to you to create and prototype imaginative inventions to solve their problems. Farm to Fork: Agri-Science Unearthed

Delta College and Michigan State University have teamed up to offer this one-of-a-kind summer camp. You’ll have fun while experiencing an extensive exposure to Agriculture, Michigan’s 2nd ranked industry. And, you’ll learn about all areas of agriculture including agricultural technology utilizing the all-new, popular drones. You’ll become familiar with crops, where your food comes from, urban farming, entomology and how to build a compost container. Through discussion with local leaders you’ll explore careers and discover what “grew” their interest in agriculture. If that wasn’t enough, you’ll also learn how to drive a tractor!

Science WORKS!

Explore Forensic Science, Space, Engineering and Chemistry all in one camp! Delta College Summer Camps has teamed up with The Mid-Michigan Technicians Group an affiliate of the Midland local chapter of the American Chemical Society to offer this one-of-a-kind experience. Day 1 is all about Forensics. You’ll take a look at history, real CSI vs. Hollywood, careers, techniques and equipment. You’ll help solve a crime by analyzing everything from blood to fingerprints, taking home your own fingerprint and magnifier! On day 2 you’ll journey to Space and unlock the mysteries of our solar system by building your own spectroscope and a have a once in a lifetime opportunity to FaceTime the Women of NASA! You’ll become an Engineer on day 3 where you’ll be challenged in groups to design a new toy with each student taking on specific roles to contribute to the success of their projects. And finally, on day 4 you’ll become a Cosmetic Chemist and learn all about the science that goes in to formulating a lotion and then applying these learnings by formulating your very own lotion!

Genetics: Dive into DNA

Who are you? What makes you uniquely you? DNA! Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) is the molecule that carries all the basic genetic material that allows living organisms to grow and develop. Safe Sitter®

Be prepared to stay home alone, watch younger brothers and sisters or start your business as a babysitter. Delta College has partnered with Safe Sitter®, a national, non-profit organization to teach you valuable life and safety skills. Over 175 lives have been saved by Safe Sitter® graduates. During this 2 day camp, you’ll receive training in first aid including infant and child choking rescue, indoor and outdoor safety and how to handle household emergencies. By the end of this camp, you can be a Safe Sitter® graduate and will be prepared to prevent problems and handle unexpected emergencies.

Manufacturing with Sand & Metal

You’ll have the chance to “play” with sand and metal during this 1 day camp! Delta College Summer Camps has teamed up with The American Foundry Society (AFS), Saginaw Valley Chapter (SVC) to present this “Foundry-In-A-Box” educational experience just for you! You’ll learn about castings and the foundry industry; uses for metal castings; basic steps in creating metal castings; different types of molds and materials used to make castings and why different metals are mixed together to make alloys. You’ll make your own sand mold, the tin will be melted and poured into your mold, you’ll shake out your mold and finish your casting. When it’s all said and done, you’ll even get to take home your tin widget casting and a better knowledge and appreciation of manufacturing, engineering, material science and metal casting!

During this 4 day camp you’ll master woodworking basics by learning to follow plans, measure, mark, cut, drill, shape and finish projects with hand tools. Camp Health & Wellness

Let Delta College introduce you to a variety of health related careers! This camp will provide you with a unique learning opportunity that will motivate, encourage and spark your interest in furthering your education and pursuing a career in the ever-growing and advancing field of healthcare. Each day you’ll attend hands-on sessions led by local health professionals, College and career center instructors. You’ll practice in Delta’s state-of-the-art facility which includes replica operating rooms, simulation rooms with life-like patient mannequins, a dental clinic, a sonography lab, physical therapy assistant labs, a human performance lab and so much more! You’ll be trained in adult CPR and learn about employability skills by attending 8 specific career sessions of your choice. Asthma Camp

Do you have asthma? Our 1 day camp is designed specifically for kids who have been diagnosed with asthma. It gives you the opportunity to interact with other kids who have asthma in a fun and safe environment. Past camp highlights include visits by regional medical, fire and public safety professionals. Activities may include CPR training, metered dose inhaler training with a spacer, creating “Asthma Bracelets”, swimming, basketball, tennis, Zumba Dance instruction and other games. If you like to draw and create stories then this camp is a must! This camp focuses on creating and designing illustrated characters using tricks of the trade commonly found in classic cartoon illustration. First Responder Academy

Do you know what it takes to be a First Responder? Are you considering a career in Public Safety? You’ll achieve personal pride and discipline with a maximum hands-on experience, physical activity, real life observation and participation in every aspect of the Public Safety system: Police, Fire, EMT, Paramedic and more! Activities include: teachings from local first responders and demonstrations and exercises utilizing today’s technology in fire safety, forensic science and obstacle course cadet training exercises. Drug recognition and alcohol prevention, Internet safety and cyber-bullying will also be addressed. You’ll be provided an academy t-shirt and cap and will be physically active and engage in many aspects of authentic training and assessments based on the Delta College Academy program. You’ll learn First Aid and CPR training and receive certification if you meet the criteria. This camp is taught by local first responder experts and Delta College faculty and staff. Your parents and guardians are welcome to join you on the last day of camp to witness a live reenactment scenario! You're asked to bring in a simple floor plan (layout) of your family’s home and fire safety plan for review and discussion.

Architecture & Modeling with AutoCAD & Minecraft

SAT® Prep & College Readiness

Colleges and universities use your SAT® score, GPA, extracurricular activities and high school involvement to determine if you’ll be admitted to their campus. Earning an impressive SAT® score can also help you save $1000s of tuition dollars via scholarships. This camp will teach you what to expect when you take the SAT® and will give you a glimpse of what you need to do to be successful in college. You’ll learn test taking strategies for Critical Reading, English/Writing, Math and Essay Writing and will be registered in an online SAT® Prep website. You’ll use these strategies daily and apply your knowledge during a practice test. You’ll also complete a Writing prompt and present to the class. If you can’t wait until September 1st to board the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 ¾ then this special camp is just the ticket you need! Upon conclusion of the sorting hat ceremony, you’ll engage in a wonderful world of inspiration and wonder as you learn about the history of magic, charms, defense against the dark arts, potions, numerology, mythical creatures and so much more! You’ll perform magical acts such as composing a charm and wand making, to name just a few. Not only will you take away your very own personal wand and charm, you’ll graduate from this magical experience with heightened critical thinking, communication and analytical skills as you engage in hands-on activities related to understanding the human experience. Help humans settle City X, the first city on a fictitious new planet. You’ll be paired with the citizens of City X as they are faced with various challenges relating to social issues such as environment, education, health and safety. It’s up to you to create and prototype imaginative inventions to solve their problems. You’ll learn about the design process and will be introduced to 3D modeling and printing technologies to form prototypes of your inventions and, where a 3D printer is available, actually produce models. 3D printing is changing life on Earth and space and it’s never too early to build these valuable STEM skills!

Safe Sitter®

Be prepared to stay home alone, watch younger brothers and sisters or start your business as a babysitter. Delta College has partnered with Safe Sitter®, a national, non-profit organization to teach you valuable life and safety skills. Over 175 lives have been saved by Safe Sitter® graduates. During this 2 day camp, you’ll receive training in first aid including infant and child choking rescue, indoor and outdoor safety and how to handle household emergencies. By the end of this camp, you can be a Safe Sitter® graduate and will be prepared to prevent problems and handle unexpected emergencies.

Middle School Scientific Engineering

Get your challenge on! You’ll create and program a LEGO® MINDSTORM® EV3 robot that measures distance and speed, moves without using wheels, maximizes power to move up an incline and moves and turns to create shapes. You’ll also add a sensor to your robot to control its behavior and graph and analyze sensor data to measure surrounding area and reflected light, distinguish specific colors and measure distance from objects. Throughout the camp, you’ll be challenged to design, build and program robotics systems built from subsystems and develop systems that move a ball, pick up and place objects, simulate manufacturing, sort colors and communicate the robot’s location!

Woodworking & Applied Technology

During this four day camp you’ll master woodworking basics by learning to follow plans, measure, mark, cut, drill, shape and finish projects with hand tools. You’ll learn how forces are used to make things move, work in teams to build a mouse trap car and have a contest to see which one travels the farthest. You’ll have so much fun working with your hands and exploring the world of woodworking and carpentry you won’t even realize you’re using math and science along the way. Kids Can Cook!

In this fun, 4 day camp you’ll practice essential kitchen skills and master the fundamentals of cooking. You’ll love working alongside chef-mates and learning everything from kitchen safety, proper techniques, cleanliness, measurements, meal planning, where food comes from and so much more! Each day you’ll have a chance to show off your new cooking skills. You’ll receive hands-on instruction in basic techniques such as knife skills, sautéing, baking and preparing fresh pasta. Working in teams of 4, you’ll use fresh ingredients to create delicious menu items created specifically for young palates. Registration Methods

Registration is easy! Pick your favorite method. You've got four great options from which to choose.

  1. Register by phone at 989-686-9444 and make payment by credit/debit card.
  2. Register in person with the LifeLong Learning Office located in the H-wing of Delta College’s Main Campus, 1961 Delta Road, University Center, MI 48710.
  3. Register Online
    • Click on the "Register Now" button on the upper left side of the page.
    • Payment is required at time of registration. Have your credit card ready.
    • Search for camps by course number (i.e. CYC-1000).
    • Select camp and follow on-screen instructions, making sure to enter camper’s information.
    • When completing payment information, be sure to enter card holder’s information.
  4. Register by mail by completing the Registration Form in the Summer Camps catalog and mail it with it to us with your payment.

Register Early

Camps are available on a first come, first served basis and fill quickly. We recommend registering for camps a minimum of two weeks prior to the start date. If the camp you wish to register for is FULL, call LifeLong Learning to be added to the WAITLIST.

CAMP FORMS

Summer Camps at Delta College requires parents/guardians to complete and return the following forms as soon as possible upon registration. All forms must be returned well in advance of camp start dates. These forms will also be sent via email after registration.

Payments

Full payment is due at the time of registration for all Summer Camps.

Refunds

A 100% refund will be granted prior to the first day of camp. No refunds will be granted on or after the first day. To request a drop, please contact the LifeLong Learning office at 989- 686-9444.

Cancellations

Summer Camps are offered on a cost-recovery basis. Delta College reserves the right to cancel any camp should there be insufficient registrations, or for any reason, at the discretion of the College. Parents/Guardians will be contacted if this occurs and can select another camp, if available, or request a 100% refund.

Discipline policy

Students are expected to take responsibility for their own behavior and act appropriately to foster a positive environment for all participants. If a student acts inappropriately during the program, a warning will be given to the student and to the parents/guardians on the day of the infraction. If inappropriate behavior continues, the student will be removed from the camp and may be removed from the program without refund.

Food services

Unless noted in the camp description, lunches, snacks and beverages are not provided.

It is recommended that all students attending full day camps bring a sack lunch each day as well as mid-morning and afternoon snacks. For the rare occasion when this is not possible, a full-service cafeteria is available at the student's expense. 

Students may wish to bring a fillable water bottle each day.

In the event that the College must make any adjustments to its normal operation, all closing messages will be posted to Delta’s homepage (www.delta.edu), Delta College Quality Public Broadcasting, Q-TV (Channel 19 or Charter Cable Channel 9) or Q-90.1 FM.
