Mission & Goals

MISSION

As Delta College faculty work to improve student learning, the FCTE works to provide the opportunities and resources necessary to do this in a rapidly changing environment.

Delta College is committed to offering high quality instruction to all the students it serves.  In support of this commitment, the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence has been established with the general mission of supporting all faculty in their quest to achieve teaching excellence.

GOALS

• Encourage and support innovation in the classroom
• Serve as a resource center for literature and materials on teaching excellence and for information on conferences on classroom teaching
• Encourage and support faculty professional development
• Coordinate campus group activities on teaching excellence
• Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and issues of concern to the faculty
• Sponsor programs on teaching effectiveness
• Provide assistance to faculty to ensure quality learning environments and ready access to instructional materials
• Serve as liaison between faculty and administration on matters concerning teaching, learning and professional development
• To reach these goals the FCTE supports a number of activities and resources such as:  workshops, Talk Teaching listserv, conferences, teaching periodicals and funding opportunities.
